After a few months of preparations and joined efforts of the Scala community — Scalar 2019 has lived up to the hype and left us full of functional programming wisdom and new connections to nurture!

We gathered almost 500 like-minded Scala developers and enthusiasts willing to network, learn and build connections. The main goal of Scalar was to start some interesting discussions during the breaks and the after party, and inspire people to explore Scala ecosystem more. Some of the insights were gathered in the form of the traditional whiteboard voting results, where we uncovered the current trends and the future of Scala.

What’s next?

  • Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel, where we will be uploading all the talks, starting tomorrow. Opening keynote is there already.
  • Discuss Scala stuff daily with fellow developers on the Facebook group: Scala Developers’ Corner!
  • Watch the video summary to keep the memories alive!

Thank you!

Thank you all for coming to Warsaw, some of you for the 6th time. We again had a blast! Kudos to our sponsors: Scalac and Touk, volunteers, event partners and the SoftwareMill’s Team for pulling off this fantastic event.

SoftwareMill’s Team

Can’t wait for the next conference experience?

We’ve planned quite an intensive couple of weeks. Want to meet us in the wild? Why don’t you head over to:

GeeCON, 15–17 May, Kraków

We’ll be quite busy at the JVM-celebration in Kraków, two SoftwareMillers are speakers and our team is more than happy to welcome you at our booth! Come, have a chat and don’t miss out on the talks:

Scala Days 2019, 11–13 June, Lausanne

We’re celebrating 10 years of SoftwareMill this year (more details will follow soon 😉 ) And Scala Days has its 10-years anniversary also! A coincidence? We don’t think so. We joined this special edition as a Gold Sponsor to celebrate the double anniversary with the Scala community.

We might have some surprises at our booth! We’re eager to hear what interesting project you’re working on and share some of our latest OSS projects and Scala insights.

Last, but not least, Adam Warski is giving a talk on: Concurrent programming in 2019: Akka, Monix or ZIO? — a live-coding session where he will solve the same problem using three competing libraries: Typed Akka Actors, Monix and ZIO!

Confitura, 29 June, Warsaw

Confitura is yet another opportunity to meet amazing developers. Obviously, we cannot miss it. As CfP is still on, we’ll update you on the planning stage appearances, however it’s worth to mention that our team members are involved: Ida Bzowska, staff at Confitura for 3 years and Łukasz Lenart, “the Boss” at Confitura.

Do not forget to attend Spoina too, we’ll be there!

Where will we meet you next? Tell us in the comments section below!

  • GeeCON
  • Scala Days
  • Confitura

Our event schedule is updated here, we’re sure to be popping in to plenty of local meetups too!

PS. This conference season we’re travelling with a new friend! tAPIr: a Scala library for creating typed API descriptions. Have you met him yet? You can collect these cute stickers, created by the one and only Impure Pics, at our stand!
